Critical: AI can hallucinate paper titles, findings, or details that don't exist. Always verify any specific claims against the actual source before sending.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Don't attach your resume in the first email. It signals you're asking for something. Save it for when they request it or when a real opportunity emerges.
- Don't ask to "schedule a meeting." It puts pressure on them and makes you sound transactional.

- Don't oversell yourself. Phrases like "I am confident I would significantly contribute to your lab" come across as presumptuous, especially from students with limited research experience.
